The trip to Assateague was fun. Glad I went, even though Saturday, Sunday and Monday were chilly in the mornings because of a rain storm that went through Friday night. Because it was so chilly, I hadn’t taken a bath since Friday because the facilities only had cold water showers. And I wasn’t that into getting chilly.

Cut for an image heavy post.

Here is the picture of one of the mares where the expression is classic and I want to do a bunch of sayings for her. Because standing there is just so expressive. Heh.

Lastly, the weekend we were there, Ocean City was having it’s Wine Fest. So for under a hundred dollars, we got six bottles of one, one of which was polished off at the beach. Another is a gift for the roomie’s mom.

This is what is left. From left to right: Niagara; Swan’s Dream, a chocolate raspberry dessert wine; Bramble Berry; Cabin Fever and Red Cat.
The Swan’s Dream was more expensive because it was a limited batch and the single bottle was $25. But it’s sooooooo good.

Still on vacation but currently at a Panera cleaning some e-mail up so I'm not spending a week catching up on everything.

Things I've learned so far.

When dealing with showers that only have cold water, they aren't so bad when you're about to get out but still a bit of a shock when you first start.

Assateague horses - if they have the motivation and smell something interesting - know how to open a dumpster so that they can then proceed to eat and tear apart garbage. They did this last night and our camper is right next to the dumpsters. They started out fine at first just eating the grass but one figured she would try her luck and apparently hit the jack pot.

And then one came over to lick one of the chairs we had outside. So I had horsie butt outside where I was sleeping. :)

Neighboring campers - Who don't read the literature that the rangers give them when they first check in obviously can't read the freaking signs about quiet time being from 10pm to 6 am. -_- They were cackling and being an overall pain in the butt apparently till 1 in the morning.

When normal campers are trying to freaking sleep. On top of that they left out bottles and glasses on the picnic table. So if a pony wanted to come along and take it, they could. You're supposed to clean up after yourself and NOT have the horses want to come into your campsite.

I preferred the couple that kind of bickered with each other over these idiots. Not to mention the kids take after the parents and cackle and are louder than they should be.

Last point of the moment - I have an awesome picture of one of the mares just giving me this 'Really, human?' look as we were passing by them on the road. I need to think of a bunch of sayings and making icons or something.

"Assateague pony doesn't have time for your shit" or something like that. ^.^
