I don't know what it is this year but I'm not sure I'll be able to finish over 50k with the August Camp Nano either. With June, I got to 44k. That was because of when I got home, being hot, even with the AC on and just trying to find a comfortable place to work and the muse going "Eh, I don't wanna today."

I might finish at the same spot with August, or maybe around 30k. I've been managing at least 750 words or there about. Bah. I need to find someone who is doing it as well and have sprints. I found last year that sprints helped me out a lot because then I could focus. I'm trying to keep writing, no matter what.

I've joined a com called <a href="http://writerverse.livejournal.com/>Writerverse</a> that has challenges that you can earn points for your team. I'm on Team Prose. The end of Phase 3 is coming up and Phase 4 starts on September 1st. It has gotten big enough that now there is a third team set up. It's fun and the prompts are interesting. I'm also working on getting back into flash fiction again through the week. I have to work on re-reading my one story as well as finish my Cthulhu Steampunk and get it to the writing group I'm in. I had gotten wind of another one and have been mulling it over. It meets once a month and there is a ten dollar fee to help with the meeting spot, which isn't bad. And it is only fifteen minutes away.. This Saturday is another CATRA show, so this should be interesting on how I do. ON top of that, I need to leave there a little after three and go to the one bookstore because the book group I'm in is having five people come in who do Steampunk. If you've ever seen the episode of Castle that focused on Steampunk and had seen the arm that he wore, that was made by a guy local to my area. He's going to be there. He said he has been offered so much money at cons for that piece but he doesn't want to sell it.

Although I didn't complete June Camp NaNo, I did get close. It was more of there were days when I didn't feel like writing and only did half the amount, to it being too hot and sitting on the couch was just 'meh' for me plus the past week when I was stressing over my horse. And then there was the part where I swort of picked which story I was going to do next last minute so didn't have much research done.

I need to find some valid Haitian and Louisiana Creole Voodoo books so I can make sure I wasn't just pulling stuff out of my butt.

So I need to clean up what I've written and then maybe once a week post excerpts to the writing filter.

For August, I was planning on basing the next Steampunk in South America around Rio. And regular NaNo will be based in England. Or maybe Australia if I can figure out a good idea for that one.

Well, I've working away on my novel and while I had been further behind, thanks to some word sprints, it's not as bad. There were times when I'd be lucky to get 750 because it had been so humid and hot and the last thing I wanted to do was sit down. But I am powering through.

This was as of last night and the goal last night was 21200 or something like that. It wouldn't be the first time I was behind and it isn't the biggest amount I have been behind. It was...two years ago that I was behind by ten thousand and I made it up in an eight hour session. My butt didn't like me but I had made it.

I'm thinking of posting some bits and pieces and if you aren't already on my writing filter, I can add you to it as I'll be posting to that.

So I'm working on Camp NaNoWriMo this month and I actually did a mock up of my cover. Behold my terrible photoshoping skills. :) I really need to work with GIMP more or something.

Now I need to find voodoo links for both Louisiana Creole and Haitian.

I had Vulgar Toshiya draw pictures of three of my characters from my Camp NaNo novel.

I need to find a questionaire and put that up for them.

Eiji
Eiji, Captain of the Scarlet Cherry Blossom

Maru
Maru, Engineer of the Scarlet Cherry Blossom

Genji
Genji, Gentleman Adventurer and contractor

Names might change especially since I have one other character with the -ji ending.

Go me and Japanese names. *headthunk*

30739 / 50000 words. 61% done!

I'm still behind by like 5k words but I can catch up. Really. I just need to stop messing around now. I was tired this weekend so I didn't get as much done as I wanted. It helps when I can find people on Twitter to do springs. That's helped a lot.

Or I'll just stick in the headphones and listen to some soundtracks.

I need to get November's story ready. Still not sure if I want to do the one I had the idea for at the book signing or continue along the same story line that the Camp story is about.

17022 / 50000 words. 34% done!

I'm still 7k behind but I'm slowly cutting into that amount. It helps that I actually am using my twitter account to get in on some word sprints. With that I've managed a 2500 day and a 2800 day last night. (I really wanted to break 17k and it had only been 300 words away. Simple right?)

I might be able to make it. So far the story is still going. Of course, they only now just got to the artifact that the military is looking for. And I think it's Chapter 8. Or 9. :D Not supposed to be perfect the first go.

And I actually came up with two other ideas for possible NaNo although the one might be more of a short story. I had gone to Midtown Scholar because there was a book signing for Jon Sprunk and Danielle Ackley-McPhail.

Jon's English covers for his series are really cool looking and Danielle is a fun person. She was talking about how she wanted to do a workshop, which I'd be interested in going to. So, have to keep an eye on when that will come up.

I just realized, about 10k words in that three of my characters for my NaNo have a few letters that are similar in their name.

Eiji - MC
Genji - MC
Senji - Secondary

Character name fail.

7184 / 50000 words. 14% done!

Still behind. According to the site, today is the 15k mark or a little less. I will have to actually type 2k words a day to make it to the end. It's doable. Just need to settle myself in and do it. I didn't do to badly. Came up a little short of the daily word count but then I had called my mom to wish her a happy birthday and was on the phone for 1/2 hour.

I'm having some problems finding japanese model websites. Let's just say that when I searched for females, some of the images were...not what was going to fit unless the story was so very NC-17. *cough* But I found a female one I liked. of course, it's a picture of a volleyball player but the look works.

I'll have to look up surnames at home. I've been using first names right now.

And the picture I'm using for one character is actually Korean but I like the look. Jang Dong-gun from The Warrior's Way. Or would it be Dong-gun Jang?

So yeah, Camp NaNo for August tomorrow. If there is anyone who wants a buddy to commiserate with, my user name there is Nellie (same as the regular NaNo). I'm going to try to do my steampunk stories that's sort of using a bit of AU of the current world map.

And I'm starting with the area that will be Japan (and some of China as the Japanese Empire has extended beyond the island). So, I'm currently (last minute procrastination GO) looking up some holidays and planning out some things that I'm going to use. This should be interesting. I should go with what I'm familiar with.

Pft. Familiar schmiliar.

Ho-boy...

Really now

I have to seriously get off my ass and at least work on some things for Camp NaNo for August since it starts, I don't know, next Monday?

I know what I want to do but not sure how well the plot is going to move. Ugh. Need to find someone to word war or if the one writing comm on LJ is going to do writing sprints again or if they are taking a break for the summer on that. Or I need to find one of the other NaNo peeps who has AIM and do it that way. I write better if I know I'm up against someone in a timed event. Maybe that will help me do my outline (loose one at that).

Edit: Dear LJ - stop being so waffly. I sometimes can read things and sometimes it times out. WTB Fix please.

Edit the second: Oh boy, DDoS attack. Again.

Camp NaNo is officially up. http://www.campnanowrimo.org

They have it so that you can write 50k in July or August. Or just wait till November for regular NaNo. But if November is too busy, this is a fun way to get something in.

I'm not sure I'll be making it for July since it was kind of last minute for me and I was busy with other things but I'm hoping to do it in August. or at least give it a go. Bad enough that I still don't really have any ideas for this year. *sigh*

I feel like a hack sometimes.

My name on both NaNo central and Camp NaNo (you can use your current ID for both sites) is Nellie if anyone wants to add me.
