Kickstart my heart
Aug. 9th, 2011 11:53 amA few years ago, I got into a series where the protagonist wasn't young and wearing skimpy clothes and fighting crime.
She is in her 30s, swore, had a few vices and at times, okay, a lot of times, she's a bitch and she's done a few shady things of her own as long as she got what she wanted. But her city stayed protected.
Marla Mason is a very gritty protagonist. And she makes no apologies for it. T.A. Pratt got Book 4 published before the book business started to slump and unfortunantely, his book series was one that wasn't renewed for further volumes.
So last year he put out the call. He would do book five but only if his fans could fund it. He had some pretty good tiers of prizes from bookmarks to getting signed copies or limited edition prints of the artwork that was his cover or having something named after you.
Book 5 was a go due to that. I think it was a goal of $10,000 or something like that.
He's trying again with Book 6 with the goal of $6,000.
